Martin Stewart Announced as Official Writer-in-Residence

We are absolutely delighted to announce author Martin Stewart as the official Writer-in-Residence of Friends of the Broadway Prestwick!

A native of Glasgow, Martin has been writing from a very young age and since releasing his debut novel Riverkeep in 2016 - which was called “exquisite” by The New York Times, and “relentlessly brilliant” by The Guardian - has been shortlisted for several national awards, had his work translated into nine different languages and published all over the world. Previously working as an English teacher and university lecturer, Martin now resides in Troon with his wife, two children, and a very big dog. Martin is an incredible addition to our organisation, and will be focusing primarily on helping us preserve the Broadway's rich cultural heritage and bringing our history to life. We can't wait to work together in the years to come!

In a hello to our members, Martin has said: "I’m delighted to be part of the project, and keen to contribute my skills and experience to its future. As a local film fan with a nostalgic soul, this is really up my street, and I’m looking forward to getting started in 2024!"

Martin has two books set for worldwide release over the coming months, with the third novel of his debut middle grade series Bridget Vanderpuff, Bridget Vanderpuff and the Great Airship Robbery, launching on 1st February! Then, in an exciting new chapter for Martin, his debut adult crime novel Double Proof will officially release on 7th March. Double Proof has already received fantastic reviews:

"A rollicking thrill-ride of a novel, whip-smart and shot through with the darkest comedy. Martin Stewart is a fresh and exciting new voice in Scottish crime fiction" - Doug Johnstone

“Relentless pace, katana–sharp humour and an endearingly irascible protagonist make Double Proof irresistibly entertaining.” - Chris Brookmyre
