Doors Open Days 2021 ft. The History of the Broadway Exhibition
Updated: Aug 12
We were absolutely thrilled to participate in Doors Open Days 2021!

For Doors Open Days 2021 we were able to reopen the Broadway's doors to the public for the first time in years, and we are delighted to announce the event was a huge success! Providing the local community the opportunity to walk through those doors once again was an incredible feeling and one echoed by all who were able to come along across both Saturday and Sunday.

The main feature of the event was an official history exhibition, consisting of two unique exhibits: The History of the Broadway and Other Cinemas of Ayr & Prestwick. Each exhibit featured a display board with historical information, photographs and secondary display tables, showcasing vintage cinema equipment, memorabilia and archive documentation from the golden age of cinema.

We would also like to give a special thank you to our volunteers for the event! In order to get the Broadway ready for the weekend there was a lot of hard work involved in cleaning and scrubbing the foyer beforehand. Thanks go out to Anne, Ray, David and Ewan for volunteering to help with the preparation, and extra thanks to Joanne for helping out at the event itself.

One last thank you also goes to Mark from Stewart & Sons Locksmiths, who helped us get the front doors ready to open on Saturday morning. We couldn't have done it without you!
We are delighted to announce too that you can now view the exhibit virtually right here on our official website. So even if you weren't able to make it along on the day, you can still come on a trip down memory lane with us virtually.
Enjoy!
